FAQ

  1. Will there be tents? No, we provide platforms to pitch your tent, but you will need to bring your own tent.
  2. Will there be sleeping bags? No, you will need to bring your own sleeping bags. If you don’t have one already, we recommend you take a look at the Scout Life article, “How to Buy the Best Sleeping Bag.“
  3. Do I need to bring food? Only Friday night dinner, all other meals at the camp are inclusive. However, snacks, sodas, and ice creams are sold at the trading post, which accepts cash only. Remember to follow the “Leave No Trace” outdoor code and keep everything clean. Keeping food and snacks in your tent will invite “critters”, so if you plan to have any food or drinks in your camping area, keep them secured and clean.
  4. Will the food be halal? Yes, the food served at the camp will be halal.
  5. Is transportation included? Transportation to AND from camp is NOT included. Once at camp, vehicles are kept parked in the parking lot.
  6. Can I send my 4-year-old to camp alone?  No, children are not allowed to attend the camp alone. They must be accompanied by a responsible adult 21 years of age or older.
  7. Can my grandmother go? Yes, all family members are welcome to join the camp.
  8. Do children under 5 pay full price? No, children under 5 are free.
  9. What about payment? Will there be refunds? Registration and payment details will be announced to all those who signed up for the interest form. There will not be refunds.
  10. Can I bring my personal gun, rifle or bow? No, according to Camp Durant and BSA rules, only Camp Durant equipment can be used.
  11.  I am a scout leader, can I advertise my unit? Please email admin@muslimfamilycampout.org
  12. How do I volunteer? Volunteers must be 18 years or older. To volunteer, you need to register as normal and indicate that you are a volunteer. You will be assigned activities and duties for the entire day by the activities director.
  13. Can I tent on my truck? No vehicles are permitted at the camp site.
